I start every consultation with you and me. We will meet and chat. We discuss what is going on right now and where you want to go with your health.
I will also ask a lot of questions, I mean a lot. Don't be afraid; there is no judgment here. I want to get to know you so we can partner together and develop the very best nutrition plan for you.
During our first meeting, I will ask of you to start tracking your food, activity, sleep, water and yes your poop. (I said it..., and it is a huge indicator of your health. we will chat more about this later). I ideally like to be able to review 1-2 weeks of your logs.
Including what a "normal" day of eating is like, your physical activity, stress levels, sleep patterns, medical conditions, digestion, and past health problems. Also at play are weight and age, which can both be significant factors when it comes to nutritional advice.
As a certified nutritional professional, I will take all of these into account when doing your assessment, to develop recommendations that promote a healthy lifestyle. By getting an understanding of you as a whole person, we will be able to work together to set goals and create a comprehensive strategy.
The second meeting we will go over my recommendations and plan. We will talk through the details and adjust the program as needed based on what makes sense for you.
Once we develop an initial plan together, we will meet once a week for 8-12 weeks. This is what I call the assess and evaluate phase. One of the most critical aspects of any nutritional plan is to understand where a you are at the present moment.
We will talk about the plan and how it is working for you. At this time we fine tune and rework the program based on your feedback and progress.
Additionally, we will talk about Nutrition. My job is to make YOU the expert. I will teach you about food and other things that can affect your health, such as sleep, exercise, stress, and digestion. I will also ask you what you are interested in learning. I assure you our sessions to be both educational and interesting.
I recommend you continue to log your food while we work together. I like to review the logs before your weekly meetings and have ready for you suggestions and recommendation for our session.
I know it can seem like a pain in the butt but trust me, food logging is a great way to stay accountable for what you eat and helps me understand your day. There is no judgment here. It is completely confidential. Just between you and me.
Beyond our weekly appointments, I will touch base with you once or twice a week to see how it is going and answer any questions or concerns.
You will receive a weekly reminder email of education, support, and encouragement. I also make myself available for you if you want to chat. Just send me a text or call.
It is up to you! We can continue to meet weekly, twice a month, once a month, or quarterly. We will sit and talk about what you want to do next. My philosophy is that good nutrition, and good health is an on-going practice. It is about the journey and the practice of good health. I am here to help, always.
